Gibson Brothers - Cuba (12” Mix - HQ Stereo) This stunning latin-style disco track reached #12 in the UK singles chart in 1980. Recorded in 1978, the song was originally released in 1979 but failed to break in to UK Top 40. However, a re-issue as a double A-side with Better Do It Salsa gave the Gibson Brothers their third chart hit. Overall, the three brothers (Chris, Patrick and Alex) achieved success with four hit singles between 1979 and 1980. Other hits were Ooh! What A Life (#10 in 1979), Que Sera Mi Vida (#5 in 1980) and Mariana (#11 in 1980). The brothers are still recording and performing.

3D Juggler Animation on a Commodore Amiga (1986) First launched in 1985, the Amiga was a high-end, 16-bit home computer which was a much cheaper alternative to the Apple Macintosh and IBM-PC. It’s advanced graphics and sound capabilities led to a huge range of demos and games being released during the late 80s and well into the 90s.

Michael Jackson - Smooth Criminal (1988 Instrumental) The seventh single to be lifted from Bad reached #7 in the U.S. and #8 in the UK. The first two versions of the song were written in 1985 by Jackson. The first was called Chicago 1945, and this evolved into a second version which was entitled Al Capone. Before producer Quincy Jones would accept the song for inclusion on the Bad album, the song was re-worked and rewritten to become Smooth Criminal. Pole Position on an Atari 5200 (1983) In the first half of the 80s, Pole Position set the benchmark for future racing games. Developed by Namco, the game’s realistic graphics went down a storm in the arcades, and following its success, it was then ported to 8-bit home computers and consoles by Atarisoft. The original arcade version was published by Atari in the U.S. and Namco in Japan. Enjoy this video clip of the Atari 5200 console version, which looks and sounds very similar to the Atari 8-bit computer version due to the almost identical internal hardware.
