The Smiths performing What Difference Does It Make? on Top Of The Pops

What Difference Does It Make? was the third single release by The Smiths and was the only single to be released from the band's self-titled studio album. Released in January 1984, The song reached #12 in the UK singles chart and, previously, This Charming Man had reached #8.

The single cover features actor Terence Stamp in a scene from the movie The Collector. However, the actor decided to deny permission for the use of the photo and another cover was shot featuring Morrissey doing a re-enactment of the scene. However, Terence Stamp changed his mind again (they're a funny lot these actors) and the cover featuring Morrissey is very rare and collectible.
