Remember this one? Sky were an instrumental band from the UK and this video features Sky's electro/rock version of Bach's "Toccata
and Fugue in D Minor". The song featured on the band's second album Sky 2 released in 1980 and the single (released simply as Toccata) reached #5 in the UK.
The band specialised in producing fusion music featuring rock, classical, jazz and electro/synth styles. Among the band members were John Williams (classical guitar), Herbie Flowers (bass) who used to be in T. Rex and Francis Monkman (keyboards) who helped to form the progressive rock band Curved Air, but left Sky in 1980. He was replaced by Steve Gray who was a former member Back Door and Wasp.
The last ever performance by Sky was in May 1995 at an RAF tribute concert, although they never officially disbanded. Overall, the group released seven studio albums; Sky (1979), Sky 2 (1980), Sky 3 (1981), Sky 4 Forthcoming (1984), Cadmium (1985), The Great Balloon Race (1985) and Mozart (1987).
